Ages: 18 - Adult. Are you an intermediate or advanced genealogy researcher who is coming up against “brick walls” in your research? If so, this virtual class is for you! Join experienced facilitator and researcher Eli Kirshner in a discussion-based genealogy research seminar. Each class session, two students share a specific family mystery or challenge they are facing in their research. As a group, we use a crowdsourced research method to brainstorm and identify innovative research strategies. Through the process, learn tips and techniques rooted in staying organized, letting the facts lead you, learning about records that are both online and not online, and building historical context around your ancestor’s lives. Please note: this class is not for beginners. Instructor: Eli M. Kirshner sits on the executive board of the Oberlin African-American Genealogy & History Group. 6 classes.
Please note, this is a virtual/online class that can be accessed from a computer, tablet, or smart phone. To fully participate, you will need access to the Internet during the class time, and a built in camera/microphone on your device or a webcam.
