This class will give high school level students a chance to learn to analyze classic literature from ancient world texts to British Lit through more modern American fare. It will provide an opportunity to become engaged in “The Great Conversation” and will include instruction in important techniques for analyzing literature using curriculum from The Center for Lit. We will decide as a class which classics to study and in what forms (i.e. books, movies, plays, etc.), and we will try to complete three or four titles from a variety of time periods and genres per semester. The key to this class being successful will be enough students participating in discussion. Also, according to participating students’ schedules, we may explore an option to extend this Thursday class through the third hour ending at the lunch break, which would give us a two-hour time block providing for more learning and discussion time. Max. 10. $50.00/Sem.
