---Instructor: Kathy Dillaber---YES! Your 3-5 grader will be onstage following 10 classes learning the basics of performing onstage: rehearsing, improvising. stretching the imagination. Students will perform in a show the weekend of March 27. Prior to these performances, you budding actor/actress will prepare every Saturday morning from 10:00 - 12:00, learning basic theatre skills, or for the more experienced student, polish those skills. It is not just about getting up onstage and repeating lines from a play. In this performance oriented acting class, they develop their acting skills, increasing their self-confidence and public speaking skills. Lessons will apply to the different to the different levels of experience within the class. Most important they learn the importance of team work and theatre discipline. Add in brief sessions learning about the technical areas in theatre, adding in properties, set ideas, costuming, and more. (And perhaps a bit of song and dance, pending play selection.) The final class is followed by a week of taking their talents and hard work to the stage for evening rehearsals. During this week, similar to the dress rehearsal period in professional theatres, the technical experts teach the students about performing under stage lights, importance of sound cues, and importance of the role of stage manager. Students will participate in several early evening rehearsals, 60-90 minutes long.)
