About this event
---Instructor: Rich Amada--- You’ve got a story to tell, and you just know it’s destined to be a success on stage or screen. But, before the actors utter a word, before auditions are held, before the director or designers even begin to think about the production, you’ve got to complete the crucial first step — writing the script. This class will guide you in the art of crafting a script that is artistically, commercially, and technically producible. Among the topics to be covered are: the essence of drama; creating believable and interesting characters; structuring the plot; creating compelling dramatic action; the proper script format; and adapting a stage play to or from a screenplay. The class will also cover important legal aspects of the business that every writer should know. As part of the class, each student will be guided in the creation of a short play that will then be performed as a reading by actors in the final class. REGISTRATION DEADLINE: JANUARY 4, 2025. Meets bi-weekly on Tuesdays (except for first two classes, which are only one week apart): 1/7, 1/14, 1/28, 2/11, 2/25, 3/11, 3/25, 4/8
