Tour de Achill is a cycling event based on Irelands largest island. Every kilometer is cycled on The Wild Atlantic Way. You will be challenged on the 65k and the 110k routes but you will be rewarded with spectacular scenery. People have described the event as tougher than many longer events.
Event details and schedule
Sign in and on the day registration is from 8:00 till 9:30 at the GAA clubhouse, (this location may change)
Event starts at 9:45, I would advise longer distance riders to move to front of bunch. Group will stay together for 2k behind lead car, untill the Righthand turn to Currane
36k is fairly flat
65k gets a bit hilly on Atlantic Drive loop. Bike needs to be in good working order, CAUTION on the decents
110k, overall you will climd roughly 1300mtr. Again Bike and Skills need to be up to scratch as parts of some climbs/decents can be up to 20%. BE CAREFUL
Achill is right on the Atlantic so be prepaired for wind and rain. If there is wind, we may have to change the routes slightly for safety.
There will be tea/coffee on arrival as well as food stops.
65k food stop is at the GAA clubhouse and the 110k will have an extra foodstop after the Atlantic Drive loop back at the GAA Clubhouse. For the 110k there will be water and some food in Keel. There is hot food for everyone at the finish, you will get a token for this in the morning when signing in
