In 1984, a family lost their son in a fatal car accident.
Thirty years later, we continue to remember that son – Kirk Goodwin – in hosting this event while raising funds to support local medical needs. We believe The KGR has great potential in the Abilene community and greater potential in the West Texas area. Because of our sponsors, charitable donors, and runners, The Kirk Goodwin Run has been providing financial and emotional support to families struggling with significant medical expenses. Over the years, we have raised nearly $200,000.00 for families in need.
This year our beneficiary is Kaile Norris Williams. Kaile, who had to medically withdraw from Abilene Christian University, is battling gastroparesis, an incurable disease where your stomach cannot process food or water. Kaile has lost over 70lbs since her diagnosis three years ago. She is currently in Houston fighting for her life on IV nutrition while they search for treatments. Kaile got married in January and has extensive hospital bills. Consider running and partnering with us as we try to cover her hospital bills and take as much of this burden off as possible.
