The Marine Corps Association Foundation has partnered with the Sugar Bear Foundation for this virtual run honoring the 8th anniversary of LtCol Mario "Sugar Bear" Carazo's making the ultimate sacrifice. LtCol Carazo made the ultimate sacrifice July 22, 2010 when his AH-1W Cobra was shot down while supporting Marines engaged in a firefight in Afghanistan. Proceeds from this event will be donated evenly between the Marine Corps Association Foundation and the Sugar Bear Foundation.
Run or walk 8 miles on July 22, 2018 to honor the memory of Lieutenant Colonel Mario "Sugar Bear" Carazo. The first 300 participants will receive an official race lapel pin.
About the Sugar Bear Foundation:
The mission of the Sugar Bear Foundation is to support the (Gold Star) surviving spouses and children of fallen United States military personnel by providing assistance to support programs which meet their immediate and ongoing needs and foster their personal, emotional, and social well-being.
