How I got started in Bikram Yoga: Four years ago, I had to have a kidney removed; afterward, I found running to be too jarring. A friend recommended Bikram yoga, which proved to be both calming and rigorous.
Athletic highlights: Competing in the 2005 Southern California Bikram Yoga Regional Competition and completing several half-century rides, including Borrego Springs, Rosarito/Ensenada and the Harpeth River Ride.
Athletic goals: To become a certified Bikram yoga instructor, to compete in the 2008 Southern California Bikram Yoga Competition and to compete in the 2008 Solvang Century.
Competing in Yoga: You complete a routine with seven postures and are judged by a panel on strength, flexibility, balance, grace, difficulty and body type.
Favorite Fuel: Clif Shot Bloks. I'm addicted to the Bloks!
Biggest Training Obstacle I've Overcome: After the removal of my kidney, I experienced anxiety and depression--Bikram yoga helped me to get through it.
Inspiration: My mother, who raised my sister and me alone and worked so hard to provide us with opportunities.
