Online registration has closed, but YOU ARE WELCOME TO REGISTER AT THE EXPO ON SATURDAY.Run from the Battleship over 2 bridges, through Historic downtown Wilmington and around Greenfield Lake then view downtown and the Battleship at the peak of the Memorial Bridge at mile 12! Two River Taxi Boats and Trolley buses transport runners to the race start. Free Ticket to tour the Battleship to all runners in both races. 8 State Records set on our course.
River Taxi Information
River Taxis to Race Start
The USS Maffitt and the USS John Knotts will provide River Taxi service to the race starting at 6:00 AM on Race Day. The boats leave from the dock in back of the Hilton Hotel. Only race participants with a race number will be allowed to take race transportation until after 8:00 am.
Pre-race dinner Onboard the Battleship
Dinner onboard the Battleship Saturday 5:30 - 7:15 pm. Adults $15 and children under 12 $10, toddlers are free. You'll eat in the same space that brave sailors did in WW11 and it will be an experience you will remember. Dinner will include a pasta dish with chicken, a pasta dish with meat balls, salad, tea or water and desert. Dinner is limited to 300 people.
Bus Service on Race Day
Buses leave from in front of the Hilton Hotel race day starting at 6:00 am. Buses also leave from in front of the Municipal Parking deck on 2nd Street near Chestnut Street starting at 6:00 am. You can park in the Municipal deck for a small fee on Sunday, catch the bus over to the Battleship from there, and not have to deal with any hassle on Water Street near the Hilton Hotel. NOTE: Spectators are not allowed to take buses until after 8:00 am.
Shirts are guaranteed to everyone who registers before October 20th. We will order extra shirts but there is No Guarantee that you will get a race shirt if you register after October 20th. Shirts are long sleeved Zorrel blend tech shirts for athletes in the Half Marathon and 5K - very nice and durable with sleeve prints on the Half Marathon shirts.
Bag Storage on Race Day
Bags can be stored in the Auditorium at the Battleship on race day. Go up the ramp to the right of the main entrance and enter the Auditorium through the single door. Tables will be stacked to provide lots of places to stow your bag. Leave dry clothes etc for after the race. No Valuables Please.
Strollers, Bicycles, Racing Chairs
We're sorry but no jog strollers, bicycles or racing chairs are allowed in the race. The course is not suited to wheeled vehicles and we are thinking of your safety, the safety of any children in jog strollers, people in racing chairs, and the safety of our runners.
Half Marathon Age Limit
Age Limit for the Half Marathon is 13 years old. Please do not register children younger than 13.
Parking on Race Day
Park free SUNDAY in metered spots or for a small fee park in the Municipal Parking Deck located on 2nd Street (north of Market Street) between Princess Street and Chestnut Street. If you park in any private lots or decks without paying you will be ticketed without mercy. If a private deck doesn't have a place to pay then it's private - look for the tiny little signs warning you not to park in that lot. If you park in a private lot, they will tow you for sure and it's $200 to get your car back!
Half Marathon 1st Place M/F Open and Masters winners receive free shoes courtesy of New Balance of Wilmington. Age group awards are 3-deep in 5-year age groups. Port Land Grille Battleship 5K M/F Overall and Masters awards are 3-deep, as are Age Groups through 70+.
Battleship Race EXPO/packet pickup
The Battleship Race Expo/Packet Pickup takes place in the Coastline Conference Center just north of the Hilton located next door to the Railroad Museum. Time frame is noon until 6:00 pm. You'll be able to meet some of our race sponsors, buy some gear and race supplies, and take in the ambience of downtown Wilmington after you experience the Expo.

Battleship Race Expo will be in the Coastline Conference Center 100 meters north of the Hilton Hotel on Nutt Street - notice the locomotive on display. www.nccoastalevents.com We'll have a large area with lots of great vendors and things to see and do while you pickup your race packet between noon and 6:00 pm on Saturday before the race.
There are (4) hotels providing discount rates for Battleship Racers on race weekend. Rates range from $149 at the Hilton Hotel on Water Street, our Anchor Hotel, all the way to $75 at one of our other hotels. All the hotels are very nice and are offering good rates for athletes.
The 15th Annual Carolina Sports Medicine Battleship NC Half Marathon is a beautiful and challenging (for the beach area) Half Marathon that starts and finishes at the Battleship North Carolina. The Port Land Grille Battleship 5K is an out and back going over one bridge. Local runners volunteer for, support, and make this race possibleEach racer in both the Half Marathon and 5K gets a FREE TICKET to tour the Battleship North Carolina. Precision Race will be timing our event with bib chip timing and real time results. Pre-race Dinner onboard the Battleship in the mess deck in a setting you'll always remember (fee). The Half Marathon course crosses two bridges over the Cape Fear River, goes through historic downtown Wilmington, tours beautiful Greenfield Lake, and returns to the Battleship via the Memorial Bridge. Entries will be limited to 1,850 Half Marathon runners this year and 400 in the 5K.The Port Land Grille Battleship 5K is a fun out and back that crosses the Cape Fear River bridge, takes a U-turn and re-crosses the bridge and returns to the Battleship. Both races finish with a flat half-mile stretch.Race Day packet pickup is at the Battleship between 6:00 AM and 7:30 AM.Port Land Grille is the Title Sponsor of the 5K again in 2013.
