Shelter is the most critical but also the simplest of the skills we teach. It is your most immediate protection from the environment and requires the least amount of energy of all the skills. Shelter can turn a wilderness into a place to belong. Shelter at its very least can turn a threatening situation into a bearable stay. By learning to build a primitive a shelter you improve your odds of beating a survival situation drastically. In this class we will teach you three types of shelters and we will build shelters either as individuals or groups and spend one night in the them. If you are not able to attend a full Essentials class, then the one-day classes may be ideal for you. This class is one of the four core skills required that allows you to participate in future events. Our water class is included in each of the Shelter, Fire Craft, and Food classes. Once all of the segments have been completed you will receive a certificate for the Essentials Course. This class starts on Saturday around 8:00 am and finishes around 9:00 am on Sunday. Lunch and dinner on Saturday and a light breakfast on Sunday will be provided. Further details will be provided once you have chosen your class.
