About This Activity

You can still register on site (in person) on the day of the event, Sunday, April 6th.

Welcome to the debut of NJ Walks for TS at Princeton! This event is an offshoot of the highly successful NJ Walks for TS at Mendham, which has been taking place since 2010 in North Jersey to support the programs and services of the New Jersey Center for Tourette Syndrome & Associated Disorders (NJCTS). Now, it's Central and South Jersey's turn!

NJ Walks for TS at Princeton exists to support the NJCTS Children's Scholarship Program, which over the past 10 years has awarded more than 200 scholarships to graduating New Jersey high school seniors affected by Tourette Syndrome. Each scholarship recipient is selected for his or her academic achievement, community service and accomplishments as an individual with TS -- an inherited, misunderstood, misdiagnosed neurological disorder that affects 1 in 100 children.

Why is the NJCTS Children’s Scholarship Program so important? Check out this quote from one of its recipients back in 2009: “This is the first time in my life I have ever been recognized in a positive way for having Tourette Syndrome. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

NJ Walks For TS at Princeton also exists to promote awareness, acceptance, action and advocacy of Tourette Syndrome and its associated disorders at a day of fun and empowerment for kids, by kids and about kids. In fact, the impetus behind bringing the NJ Walks for TS program to the Princeton area is 14-year-old Tess Kowalski, who has TS and has been a youth advocate for NJCTS since 2011.

If you are a team captain, please make sure you sign up yourself as a team FIRST, then get each of your team members to sign up under your team -- not as individuals. Then, head on over to the official donations page to sign up your team and get them fundraising!

So make April 6, 2014, the day you walk the walk and stand up alongside kids with TS and other neurological disorders! It doesn't matter what makes us different when we focus on what makes us strong.
