Running groups or sports teams may receive a discounted rate of $7 a person for the 5K race. To receive this special rate, there should be groups of 10 and each team member must complete an individual registration form. Then the coach or team leader must mail all of the registration forms and fees in together. (Please note: the group rate will not apply at day-of registration. Groups must register in advance to receive this special rate).
Late registration will be available the morning of the race from 6:45am-7:45am at the pavilion near the race start line. Event fees increase by $5 on the day of the event. (The 5K event will be $15 and the 1K Fun Run will be $10 on the day of the event. The group rate is not available on the day of the event).
Packet pick-up will be available on Friday, February 15th from 5pm-7pm at IDEA's main office in Weslaco. (Address: 505 Angelita Drive, Suite 9, Weslaco, TX 78596).
Participant parking will be available right next to the park at Memorial Elementary School (corner of Border and 18th Street). Due to runner safety, no parking will be allowed inside the park (with the exception of race planners). On race day, there will be signs and volunteers directing runners and walkers where to park and where to go for the start of the race.
The health fair is free and open to the entire community. It will run from approximately 8am-10:30am. A list of participating organizations will be available in the next few weeks. For organizations interested in participating in the health fair, please contact Lauren Reichelt at email@example.com
IDEA will use a professional timing system for the 2nd annual 5K race. RedBarn Timing Systems (Austin) is providing this service.
There will be two water stops along the race course. Water will also be available for all participants and spectators at the race finish. Refreshments (such as fruit, granola bars, etc) will be available at the end of the race as well.
