Mike's passion for the game of golf has been growing ever since his dad got him his first set of clubs and took him to the driving range when he was eight years old. Originally from Nazareth, PA, Mike became a three-time club champion as a junior golfer at Whitetail Golf Club in Bath, PA. He attended East Stroudsburg University, where he graduated in 2004 with a degree in Business Management. Mike spent a winter developing his teaching style at the Jim McLean Golf School at Trump National Doral in Miami, FL. He is proud of his resume of work experience at some of the finest clubs in the country including Jupiter Hills Club, Stonewall, and Moselem Springs Golf Club. Mike still enjoys competing as much as he does teaching; in 2014 he won the Lehigh Valley Open with rounds of 68-69.
Mike’s teaching philosophy is based on the experience he has gained learning from some of the best and brightest minds in the golf world such as Jim McLean, Charlie King, Dr. Rick Jensen, and Henry Brunton to name a few. He is a big believer in the uniqueness of all golfers and the need to teach the individual rather than having a student conform to a model or method. The system that Mike has developed and ascribed to is a teaching philosophy that revolves around the proven, universal, and essential skills of golf. His approach to golf instruction is to teach the game using a skills-based system and to coach his students on how to practice more effectively. A system, rather than a strict model or method of instruction, allows for the golfer’s individuality to be preserved while fixing their most detrimental flaws.
Mike is the Teaching Professional at St. Davids Golf Club, a beautiful Donald Ross design golf course near Philadelphia in Wayne, PA. He spends the winter months attending numerous educational seminars and the PGA’s Demo Day and Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida. Mike also conducts Winter Golf Schools for his students at the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida.
