Description

Reg Update: Online registration is now closed, but you can still eegister in-person at our Pre-Party at Sequoia (3000 K Street NW) on Fri, August 24 from 7pm to 9pm for $50/event and $80/two events OR on event morning at Washington Harbour from 7am to 8:45am. Add $15 for race day entry. Credit, cash or check payable to Watermans Applied Science.


The 2012 Watermans Paddle for Humanity returns to Washington DC on Saturday, August 25, 2012. The event features the 5K or 10K Paddle and the addition of a new event -- the Chuck Patterson Signature Series Rally Race. Please note that participants must provide their own boards for all events.

Event/Race Descriptions

5K Paddle - WPA Short Course (Estimated time: 30-minutes to 1-hour)

10K Paddle - WPA Long Course (Estimated time: 60-minutes to 1.5-hours)

Choose your distance and then compete against friends or simply paddle for the fun of it. The 5K and 10K results will be applied to WPA rankings.

Chuck Patterson Signature Series Rally Race (Estimated time: 45-minutes to 1-hour)

The CP Rally will consist of 3 laps for the men and 2 laps for the women around a multi-discipline course. The laps will include some kind of additional physical and/or mental challenge and be designed to challenge a paddlers physical performance levels. The alternate portion of the race will be specific to each location and incorporate challenges specific to the region.

WPA (World Paddleboard Association)

The following SUP age divisions will receive points for rankings to qualify for both Regional and World Championships in 5K or 10K Paddle.

a) 17 under on all board classes and gender

b) 18-29 on all board classes and gender

c) 30-39 on all board classes and gender

d) 40-49 on all board classes and gender

e) 50+ on all board classes and gender

Watermans Official Charity Program

Twenty percent (20%) of each paid entry fee goes to the organization that you select when you register. In addition, net event proceeds will be divided among these organizations.

Participating non-profits: Best Day Foundation, Keep Paddlin, Love146, LUNGevity, Navy SEAL Foundation, Ocean of Hope Campaign of the Sarcoma Alliance and the DC Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation.
