8K Fundraising Information
All participants are stongly requested (though not required) to raise additional l funds through donations to help Stop the Silence. When you register, a fundraising page will automatically be created for you, as well as a place to keep track of off-line donations. Ask friends, family, colleagues to securely contribute to your effort. Suggested target per person is $250+. Sign Up for an 8K Online Training Program
The Race to Stop the Silence 8K has teamed up with ActiveTrainer coaches to provide training plans specifically for this distance. These plans are designed for athletes of ALL levels, from the first-timer all the way up to the most experienced athlete. Included with your training plan is an online calendar, reporting tools, training calculators, maps, daily emails, and much more!
ChronoTrack Timing and Scoring
Transponder timing operated by Pacers will be used to score both races. The system uses a computer "tag" which must be tied to each runners' shoelaces and records the exact time a runner crosses the starting line and the finish line, resulting in a net time for each runner. The D-tag is disposable. Overall awards for the 8K will be based upon clock time and age group awards will be based upon transponder times.
Sat. Registration and Packet Pickup
Before-Race packet pickup will be held from 11 am to 3 pm on Saturday, April 13 at the Old Post Office Pavilion, 1100 Pennsylvania Ave., DC, 20004. Packets may also be picked up on Race Day, starting at approximately 7:15am. After on-line registration closes, you may still register at packet pickup and on-site on Race day. ALSO, PLEASE NOTE: If you plan to use the "bag drop" service please remember to bring your own water proof bag. Thank you.
Picking Up for Your Friends and Family
We do allow runners to pick up bibs and t-shirts for their friends. Please note that t-shirts cannot be mailed. You will not need to show us your ID or copies of their ID to pick up for them.
$25 through Dec. 31, 2012; $30 through March 15, 2013; $35 through April 13 6:30am Pacific time/9:30am EST; $40 on April 13 at packet pickup and off Freedom Plaza on April 14
Registration is $40 the day before and on race day, Saturday and Sunday, April 13 and 14, so register now.
