The Kingsbury Center provides a transformative educational and social experience for children and adults with learning differences. Founded in 1938 by Marion Kingsbury, a pioneer in remedial education, the Center provides educational, diagnostic, psychological, consultative and tutoring services to over 1,000 individuals each year. The Kingsbury Center includes a day school for students with learning differences and ADHD; and both tutoring, and diagnostic / psychological services divisions.
Current research indicates that one in five students in the Washington DC area has been or will be identified as having specific learning differences. Kingsburys philosophy holds that only by tailoring instructional methods and curricula to meet the unique learning needs of every student can individuals with learning differences be taught effectively. The Kingsbury Day School integrates related services, (speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, tutoring, and psychological services) into the students academic day. The cost of providing these services is often beyond the reach of those who would benefit most. Register now for the inaugural run/walk/skip 5k to raise funds and help transform lives!
