The Hungry Buzzard Century is a challenging century with nearly 8,000'; of climbing! After leaving Cutler Park, you';ll warm up the legs on Rocky Hill as you make your way to Lemon Cove. Next, follow the 3/4 century route up Dry Creek on into Eshom Valley as you continue up an ambitious climb to Hartland. You';ll find amazing panoramas throughtout this section. Continue climbing through Hartland to Whitaker Forest Road where you';ll begin your first descent to Hogback, then it';s up again to beautiful, forested Pinehurst where you begin a well-deserved final descent down Highway 245 back to the valley and Cutler Park. This route is loaded with challenging climbs and fantastic vistas. There are 6 rest/water stops on this route--but don';t stop too long, for the buzzards are hungry and they will be watching!
The Mountain House Three-Quarter Century--Finally, a longer ride with soem serious climbing! Start betEnjoy gentle terrain until things get vertical as you ascent Dry Creek followed by Stagecoach Drive. After a rest stop, you';ll tacke a stair-step climb to Sierra Glen as you make your way to Mountain House, a local landmark. Your reward for climbing will be great vistas and a long, sweeping descent down Highway 245 on the return leg. This ride includes 4,000'; of climbing with 5 rest/water stops.
The Rocky Hill Half Century--A route for the beginning rider ready for a bit more of a challenge. Riders follow the first leg of the century route over local landmark Rocky Hill and then through the rolling hills, orchards, and beautiful scenery surrounding Lemon Cove and Woodlake. This ride includes approximately 500'; of climbing and one rest stop.
The Venice Hills 40--A great beginner';s ride. Pedal through beautiful rolling hills, around the expansive Monrovia Nursery (the largest in the region), and along the St. John';s River, which skirts the Venice Hills, on this memorable local ride. One rest stop and beautiful scenery are provided.
