The Coldwater Wilderness Instructor Training (WIT) is an intensive training program in wilderness leadership and experiential discipleship available to those who have completed the Wilderness Leadership Expedition (WLE). WIT participants will receive comprehensive instruction in all facets of wilderness ministry including wilderness medicine, risk management, minimum impact wilderness ethics, technical skill training, program design, route planning, mentoring, small group development, translating and processing experiences, spiritual formation, and community engagement. WIT participants will develop the important “hats” an instructor must wear, not only equipping new instructors to lead in the wilderness, but to grow into a lifestyle of engaged leadership in their home communities. Instructor training will include both classroom and field instruction. New instructors will complete this experience with field assignments, working to facilitate a youth wilderness experience in early July. Upon completion of the WIT program, new instructors will undergo an evaluation process, potentially leading to a paid instructor contract for July and August. If you are interested in outdoor leadership, youth ministry, experience-based learning, community engagement, and want to be a part of a growing community committed to sharing the Gospel in active, experiential, and life-giving ways, then this program is for you. Come invest in yourself and in others, and be prepared to discover, use, and develop the gifts and passions that God has given you. Join Coldwater Canada this summer!
