RaceVermont.com is excited to team up with the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum (LCMM) at Basin Harbor to offer the 1st Annual Lake Champlain Maritime Museum at Basin Harbor Canoe/Kayak Triathlon. This event is expected to be a family friendly event while also attracting some top-notch athletes. You choose whether to canoe or kayak, and whether to race on your own or as part of a 2- or 3-person team.
Enjoy this beautiful course which begins and ends at the Lake Champlain Maritime Museum on scenic Lake Champlain at Basin Harbor. Start with a 2-mile canoe or kayak beginning and ending at the Maritime Museum. The 11.1 mile bike portion follows on a loop across the rolling back roads of Vergennes, Panton and Ferrisburgh before returning to the museum for an out-and-back 5K run.
Lake Champlain Maritime Museum
LCMM's mission is to research and preserve the history of Lake Champlain and share it with the broadest audience possible. We provide education and access to the lake to school children, at-risk youth, teenagers, adults and seniors who may not otherwise have such opportunities, and regardless of financial or physical limitations. Proceeds from our triathlon will help fund programs that provide adventure, education, environmental stewardship, and lake access to hundreds of children each year.
You may choose to register as an individual in either the Canoe or Kayak division, or you may register a team of 2 or 3 again, in the canoe or kayak division.
Wicking t-shirts can be pre-ordered. Orders must be placed by July 12, 2014. The cost is $20.
