Instructor: Bo Lee This class is a Korean language course aligned with the World Language Standard for California (Communication, Cultures, Connections, Comparisons, and Communities) and the ACTFL Standard in Language Proficiency (Interpersonal, Interpretive, and Presentational). The course includes the textbook developed by the Ministry of Education and consists of main textbooks (Pre-A1, A1, A2, A2+) and a workbook, with supplementary materials covering culture and Hallyu-content. This student-centered course focuses on listening, speaking, reading, and writing through the use of daily input from authentic cultural materials and active engagement. Strategies include storytelling, songs, dances, crafts, games and activities, cuisine, skits, and visual and audio representations. The curriculum incorporates Comprehensible Input and Contextualized Instruction for second language acquisition. It caters to both beginners and non-beginners, ensuring that all students can benefit and feel challenged. The instruction is based on a structured curriculum, unit, and lesson plan. Each lesson plan includes setting the stage, Comprehended Intake (Comprehensible Input), Scaffolded Expression of Meaning (Guided Practice), Free Expression of Meaning (Independent Practice), and Assessment.
