About This Activity

The VAIL VICTORY RACES is a run/bike weekend in Vail, CO. The Victory 100K MTB Race is on Saturday, Sept 7 and the Victory Trail Marathon Run & Marathon Relay Run is on Sunday, Sept 8. Athletes may sign up for one or both events. The field for each event is limited to 100 participants on course.

USA Cycling Membership: Beginner and Sport Riders

A USA Cycling One Day license is included in registration fee for Beginner (Cat 3) and Sport (Cat 2) riders. USAC members with a current Mountain Rider license receive $5 off.

USA Cycling Membership: Expert and Pro Riders

Expert (Cat 1) and Pro riders must hold an annual license to race. USAC members with a current Mountain Rider license receive $5 off.

USAC Classes for VICTORY 100K MTB RACE

Pro Men / Citizen Men / Masters Men (50 & over) / Clydesdale / Singlespeed, Pro Women / Citizen Women. Mass start for all classes. No prize money. Finisher medals to all finishers and sub 6-hour special recognition. 3 deep prizes (merchandise) in above classes.

Course Composition

The race course is primarily backcountry dirt roads & singletrack trails and will operate under USFS Special Use Permit. There is a short pavement section at the start & finish as racers head out and return to the West Vail staging area. A lead car at the start ensures a guided transition from road to trail. A sweep bike will follow the last racer in.

Aid Stations / Drop Bag

There are plentiful (but paperless) aid stations along the way (5 for bike)-each stocked with energy gel & energy bars, water & electrolyte replacement drink, fruit and snacks. Racers must carry their own hydration vessels (bottles, waistpacks, etc.) in order to refill at each station. There will be a drop bag area at Aid Station #2/4/6 West Lost Lake Trailhead for personal items.

Event Charitable Partner

$25 of your registration fee will directly benefit the Vail Mountain Rescue Group (www.vailmountainrescue.org), a non-profit group of volunteer men and women trained to respond to backcountry emergencies. VMRA operates under the authority of the Eagle County Sheriff, maintains national certification through the Mountain Rescue Association (MRA), and is an active member of the Colorado Search and Rescue Board (CSRB).

Start Times

The MTB race starts at 7:00 a.m. on Sat, Sept 7.

Registration Qualifiers

The field for each event is limited to 100 participants. Registration is accepted on a first come-first-served basis with race directors reserving the right to review and approve final roster.

Packet Pick-Up

Packet pick-up will be available on Friday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. for bikers. A mandatory pre-race safety meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Mandatory Pre-Race Safety Mtg

The Vail Victory Races is committed to your safety during this event. There are numerous hazards in any backcountry environment and this meeting from 7-7:30 p.m. will address key issues such as challenging terrain, unpredictable weather, livestock protection dogs, etc.

CORSAR Card & Cell Phone

Each participant will be required to possess a valid CORSAR card and encouraged to carry a cell phone on race day. Card cost is $3 and be purchased online at http://www.colorado.gov/cs/Satellite/DOLA-Main/CBON/1251592090523, at an authorized Colorado reseller or onsite at packet pick-up.

Host Hotel and Lodging

Holiday Inn/APEX Condominiums in West Vail is our host hotel: www.apexvail.com and will be staging directly from their facility; the Start/Finish area is on hotel grounds. There is no dedicated room block for athletes; all reservations are first come, first served. DO NOT WAIT 'TIL THE LAST MINUTE to book your room. Our participants get special rates (while rooms last); ask for Vail Victory Race group or rate code VVR.
