EX2 Adventures: 6 Hours of Cranky Monkey Mountain Bike Relay Race

About This Activity

Inspired by the huge success of our 9 and 12 hour races, the inaugural 6 Hours of Cranky Monkey kicks-off our mountain biking season. Solo racers and teams of 2 or 3 will tackle as many 11-mile laps as they can in a 6 hour period, from 10am-4pm. We are also adding a 3 hour solo option which is perfect for those not able to commit the time or training to compete in the full race.

Overview

Rosaryville is one of the DC area?s most popular mountain bike destinations and offers fun and challenging terrain, that is also beginner friendly. The mix of moderate terrain, relatively short race length for an endurance MTB event, huge grassy areas for staging, and early time of year are going to make this event ?THE? season opener for many mountain bike racers in the region.

Camping at Rosaryville

Rosaryville is conveniently located about 15 minutes off the Capital Beltway. On both Fri 3/22 and Sat 3/23, a limited number of racers will be permitted to camp in the huge grassy pit area located along the course. ($5/person/night - pay at check-in). For those not camping, there are plenty of nearby hotels.

Course

The 6 Hrs of Cranky Monkey race course winds through mixed hardwood forests and fields. The course is twisty, relatively smooth, flat and fast, offering perfect terrain for an endurance race at the beginning of the season.

Race Format

Solos and teams of 2 or 3 will complete as many 11-mile laps as possible in a 6 hour period, from 10am-4pm. We are also offering a 3 hour option where solo racers complete as many laps as possible in a three hour period, from 10:30am-1:30pm. Team members alternate laps in relay fashion. An electronic e-punch timing system, similar to chip timing, will be used to accurately calculate lap times.
