Using WeDo and Lego robotics kits students will learn how to design, build, and program their own robots. Using Lego pieces can you build a robot that can score a soccer goal, program a robot to maneuver on its own through a maze? Have you ever met a robot who can walk, dance and tell jokes all by himself?!? Younger students will use the WeDo robotics kits to learn about basic mechanical principles, such as simple machines, and both design and program simple robots that can complete tasks from animated stories. Older students will use Lego Mindstorms to free-form design and build a robot that can accomplish a variety of tasks- such as maneuver through a maze, collect objects, or respond to sound commands. Students will work with a teammate to problem-solve and overcome obstacles within their design and programming. All students will meet and interact with the amazing UT Tyler NAO robot.
