About Rocketchix Indian Creek

So...you've completed your first (or perhaps multiple) pool swim triathlons, now it's time to get out of your comfort zone, raise the bar one notch and head for the open water! You know what you can do when you put your mind to it, so let's go! Indian Creek offers the best open water swimming venue in Louisiana!

Distances for Rocketchix Indian Creek

500 yard open water swim (canoes will be out in water for safety). 15 mile bike ride: 7.5 miles out, 7.5 miles back on nicely paved roads. 3 mile run on the nicely paved road of the state park. There will be a hydration station in transition and two on the run course.

Age Groups

Age groups will be in 5 year increments beginning with ages 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, etc...USAT recognizes age on 12/31/09, not your age on race day. NOTE: Relay teams do not compete in age groups.

Relay Teams

There will be one relay division made up of 2-person and 3-person relay teams. On a 2-person team one individual completes 2 disciplines and the other completes one. On a 3-person relay team each member completes either the swim, bike or run. All relay teams will race in one category regardless of number of team members or type of bike. Each member of the relay team will recieve a goody bag & race tee.

Two Divisions- Fat Tire & Road Bike

Individual participants may enter one of two divisions. The two divisions are classified by the size of your bike tire. It's simple to determine. Just place a ruler across the top of the inflated tire: Fat Tire: > 1-1/4" common example: Mountain/Cruiser bike tires. Road Bike: =< 1-1/4" common example: Road/Tri bike tires. NOTE: 700c or 650c wheels are "Road Bikes," even if they are on a straight handled bike. In other words, the tire type/size determines the division.

Awards

Individual awards will be presented to both Road Bike and Fat Tire divisions: the Overall finisher and the Top 3 finishers in age group will receive awards. Relay awards will be presented to the Top 3 Relay Teams at each event.

Open Water Tri Clinic

Run Wild & Fit4U! Coaching and Performance Driven Training, with 3 USA Triathlon Certified Coaches, will offer an open water tri clinic. No charge for preregistered participants. Interested in attending the clinic, but not preregistered? Only a $50 fee. Check www.rocketchix.com for clinic dates.

ChampionChip Timing

Atomic Racing will provide ChampionChip Electronic Timing. Chip timing includes an electronic chip attached to a velcro strap that each groovy girl wears around her ankle for the duration of the event. The chip is collected when you cross the finish line. ALL participants MUST pick up their chip on race morning at the chip timing table. Chip timing will provide quick, accurate results with time splits for each leg of the event.

USA Triathlon (USAT) Sanctioned Event

Rocketchix Tri series is sanctioned by USAT, the governing body for the sport of triathlon. All USAT rules & regulations will be enforced. Each participant is required to have a USAT 1 day license ($10) or annual membership ($39). This fee is in addition to the race entry. 1 day license can purchased on-line when registering or an annual membership can be purchased on the USAT website, www.usatriathlon. NOTE: USAT determines age based on participant’s age on 12/31/09.

No Refund Policy

Event planning & spending occur long before race day. Therefore, this event imposes a NO REFUND policy. Should a conflict arise, you are welcome to pick up your race goodies at the time of packet pick up. You must be the one to pick up your packet and no packets will be mailed.

No Transfer Policy

In accordance with insurance policy, USAT stands strong with zero tolerance for a registered participant to allow another individual to race in her place. Doing so can result in disqualification, possible legal action, and permanent banning from future USAT and Run Wild Event Management events. There will also be no transfers to future events.
