Brief Description

The Snapping Tortuga presents the Snap Is Back! Open Water Swim. Distances; 500m, 2.5k and 5k. The 2.5k & 5k will start at 7:30am (*NOTE* in the event there is a large field, we reserve the right to send the 2.5k off 15min after the 5k start). The 500m will begin 15min after the final 5k athlete is finished.

OUR MISSION: To promote the sport of swimming in all ages while funding valuable research to cure cancer. The purpose of OutSwim Cancer is to promote the sport of swimming in all ages while funding valuable research to cure cancer. When you register for a swim event, whether in the pool or open water, you can designate OutSwim Cancer as your charity and raise funds for cancer research while using your healthy body to swim.

When you register for Snapping Tortuga, be sure to buy tickets to the pasta party! If you are NOT participating in the swim, but wish to join us at the party, please do. Pasta Party will be Saturday, April 14, 2012 at La Torretta Lake Resort & Spa. Additional Information

Course: 5k is 2 loops and the 2.5k will be one. The 500m is an out and back. *In order to register for the 5k all participants must show proof they can swim a mile in 35min or less. Awards are given for the Top 3 Overall in each Division. *NEW WETSUIT DIVISION*- No awards will be given for this division This event is Sanctioned through USAT. If you do not have a membership, you will have to purchase a one day pass.

USA Triathlon is the national governing body for the sports of triathlon, duathlon, winter triathlon and aquathlon in the United States. Participation in a USAT sanctioned event means the event director has the proper permits in place, liability and athlete excess medical insurance coverage and the event plan has met the standard of organization required.
