Description

Adult Triathlon & Relay

SWIM 750 METERS: Swim leg of the event will be conducted in "Deep Pond"...Far away from a "Pond"...this is a beautiful, clean, fresh water 40-acre body of water. Triathletes will swim a 750 meter out and back. Water temperatures are expected to be in the 70s. Wet suits are recommended.

BIKE 13.4 MILES: Bike route takes Triathletes outside of Camp Schiff through the scenic roads of Wading River and Calverton. After approximately four miles, participants will enter the once no-trespassing, Old Northrop Grumman Airport. Triathletes will have the awesome opportunity to ride their bikes on one of the largest runways in the US. This is a great ride!

RUN 3.1 MILES: After a thrilling bike ride, Triathletes will finish off their race with a run through Camp Schiff. The first and last mile of the race will be on pavement with some slight hills. The second mile triathletes will race "off-road" around the lake. Terrain is packed dirt and has some challenging (but doable) hills.

Youth Triathlon

Swim: 200 Meters (Sr. Youth 11-15) or (100 Meters Jr. Youth 7-10) Swim leg of the event will be conducted in "Deep Pond"...Far away from a "Pond"...this is a beautiful, clean, fresh water 40-acre body of water. Triathletes will swim out and back. Water temperatures are expected to be in the 70s. Wet suits recommended but not mandatory. Sr Youth will swim 50 meters out and 50 meters back (twice) in deep water. Jr Youth will swim in shallow water, out 50 meters and back 50 meters.

Bike: 4 Miles (Sr. Youth 11-15) or (2 Mile Jr. Youth 7-10) Bike route is on the Schiff Camp Site and 100% closed to vehicle traffic to ensure the safest ride conditions for our Youth. Course is fairly flat with some small rolling hills. Sr. Youth will make 2 loops and Jr. Youth will make 1 loop.

Run: 1.3 Mile (Sr. Youth 11-15) or (1/2 Mile Jr. Youth 7-10) After a thrilling bike ride, Triathletes will finish off their race with a run through Camp Schiff. Again, for the safety of our Youth, the entire course is closed to vehicle traffic. Run is off road, on Trails. Sr. Youth will make 1 full loop around the lake and Jr. Youth will make run on a smaller version of the Sr course.
