Additional Information
Burkes Garden, often called “God’s Thumbprint”, is Virginia’s largest rural National Historic District just seven miles from the nearby town of Tazewell. A deep bowl-shape, it is the highest valley in Virginia at over 3000 feet, and is surrounded by a single mountain ridge with only one paved entrance. Known for its panoramic, rolling landscape and lush farmland, the Garden, approximately 10 miles long and 5 miles wide, is home to more than 200 residents.
