Additional Information
RELAYS
Consist of 2 or 3 people. Each leg needs to be completed by the person who started the leg. There can be one person for one leg and another for two or a total of three people each doing one leg. Each person needs to complete a separate registration form to participate.
TIMING:
In keeping with Emily’s enthusiasm for “the time she had” rather than her “swim times” we encourage everyone to enjoy their experience of a recreational triathlon. The swim, run, and transition times (the time between each leg of the event) will be posted. Times will not be posted for the bike “ride” because no one is permitted to exceed the speed limit of 15 mph. No participant will be advantaged or disadvantaged by the bike “ride”. There will be designated pathways roped off to direct you to the next leg of the triathlon. Please stay in the path for your safety and obey all B&A Trail regulation including the 15 mph speed limit; failure to do so will result in disqualification.
DISTANCES
Sprint Triathlon = Swim- 800 Yards; Bike - 9 ½ miles; Run - 3miles
Flamingo Feat = Swim - 1600 Yards; Bike - 18 miles; Run - 6 miles
(Bike and Run distances are approximations)
The Flamingo Feat.
The Flamingo Feat is an opportunity for previous participants in the Emily Schindler Memorial Scholarship triathlon to develop their triathlon skills and compete in a triathlon with distances approximately double the ESMS triathlon. (1 mile swim, 18 mile bike, 6 mile run)
To be eligible to compete in the Flamingo Feat, individuals must have competed in at least one of the five previous ESMS triathlons (individual or as a member of a team) AND have a swim time of 30 minutes or less for the one mile swim.
The Flamingo Feat is limited to individual participation (no teams) and will be limited to the first 25 registered participants.
