MMRF Team: Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon
TEAM MMRF – Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon
The Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon will be packed with heart-pounding action featuring a 1.5 mile swim through frigid
waters from Alcatraz Island to shore, a grueling 18 mile bike race, and a demanding 8 mile run through the rugged trails of Gold Gate Recreation Area.
The MMRF invites you to help us raise awareness and funds for multiple myeloma research by taking part in a physical challenge. We have made it easy to support the MMRF while
participating in this incredible event. We will be with you every step of the way, from the moment you sign up to the incredible moment that you cross the finish line. Participating
on our team promises to be one of the most empowering and inspiring experiences of your life. We have a limited number of entries. Join our team and claim yours!
The MMRF is thrilled to be one of the first charities to participate in this marquis race, which up until now had never offered charity bibs.
In order to ensure that 90% of all funds raised go back to fund myeloma research, each MMRF athlete will be responsible for costs such as transportation and hotel accommodations. The MMRF will cover the entry fee for this event.
About the MMRF and Multiple Myeloma
The mission of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) is to relentlessly pursue innovative means that accelerate the development of next-generation multiple myeloma treatments to extend the lives of patients and lead to a cure. The MMRF is the world's largest private funder of myeloma research. An outstanding 90% of all funds raised go toward research and related programming. Multiple myeloma is an incurable blood cancer. Although progress has been made in treating multiple myeloma, the five-year survival rate remains one of the lowest of all cancers.
Why Run for our Team?
Our teams raise money and awareness for cancer research. Many members of our teams have a direct connection to multiple myeloma, but we also have many team members who are running or walking because they want to support a great cause. They want to support an organization that is using their money responsibly and is making breakthroughs in medical research.
