Brief Description

The Ruidoso Sprint Triathlon is a high altitude event (7000ft). It will begin with a gun start for the 3.5 mile run toward Grindstone Lake. After arriving at the lake runners will go counterclockwise and return to the transition area to grab their bikes. The 10 mile cycling event passes the Inn of Mountain Gods with a turn around at the Hunting Lodge.From the transition area, triathletes run to the indoor pool and swim 400 yards. The Ruidoso Sprint Triathlon is being held on Memorial Day weekend. It is STRONGLY recommended to make hotel reservations in advance. RACE PACKET PICK UP

Race packet & chip pick up on Friday, May 28th, 2010 from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm at the Ruidoso Athletic Club, 415 Wingfield Street, Ruidoso, New Mexico.(Phone: 575-257-4900 or 575-937-7106. Fax: 575-257-4950).

RACE DAY ORGANIZATION

6:30 am to 7:15 am:Late packet pick-up, Body Marking, Bike Rack. 7:20 am: BRIEFING will be at the tent by Wingfield Park west of the Ruidoso Athletic Club. The Triathlon will be held rain or shine. NO REFUNDS or RETURNS.

Parking instructions

NO PARKING by the Ruidoso Athletic Club. Plenty of spaces will be available across Wingfield street.

CHIP TIMING

Each chip MUST be placed on your left ankle, team participant will have to exhange the chip during the race. We will have a gun start with various waves starting at 8:00 am (every ten minutes) see under Sprint Triathlon link/Instructions at www.ruidosoathleticclub.com

SHIRTS & AWARDS

Each triathlete will receive a Tech shirt (we make every effort to have sufficient shirts for every participants).First, Second & Third overall solo Male or Female finishers will receive a souvenir from White Mountain Pottery of Ruidoso. Medals will be provided to each 1st & 2nd in Male & Female solo participants. 1st Team in Male, Female, Coed & Family will receive medals.

POST RACE PARTY

Live music & free lunch included for all the triathletes & volunteers at the end of the race !!!!

Additional Information

We are proud for the 4th annual Ruidoso Sprint Triathlon to be included in the Southwest Challenge Series-- a Duathlon & Triathlon Championship series in New Mexico & West Texas regrouping over 37 events.

Sanctioning

USA Triathlon is the national governing body for the sports of triathlon, duathlon, winter triathlon and aquathlon in the United States.
