Brief Description

Athletes compete by age as of 08/01/12 and distance: * Age 4-6: 25 yard swim/1.5mile bike/0.3mile run. * Age 7-12: 50 yard swim/3.1 mile bike/0.6 mile run. * Girls age 13-16 have two course choices: > Silver: 50 yard swim/3.1 mile bike/0.6 mile run. > Gold: 150 yard swim/6.2 mile bike/1.2 mile run. * Boys age 13 - 16: 150 yard swim/6.2 mile bike/1.2 mile run. The course is entirely in Hillcrest in Oldham County. NO TRAINING WHEELS ALLOWED ON BIKE COURSE.

FOURTH ANNUAL HILLCREST YOUTH TRIATHLON

This is a beginner level triathlon open to all youth athletes ages 4 - 16. The event is held entirely within the Hillcrest neighborhood in Prospect, Oldham County, Kentucky.

Additional Information

Please arrive by 7:30 to ensure you have time to park, get your race number written on your arms/legs, set-up your transition area and get instructions. Parking will be available at Goshen Elementary School at the front of the subdivision, St. John Church and River Valley Church on US Highway 42. We expect over 250 entrants so it does get crowded and arriving early is suggested. Parking at Goshen Elementary school or St. John Church is strongly recommended. We will race rain or shine unless severe weather delays the start. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in the following age groups: Boys and Girls 6 and under Boys and girls 7-8 Boys and girls 9-10 Boys and girls 11-12 Girls 13-16 (silver course) Boys and girls 13-16 All participants will receive a participation medal and a HYT 2012 t-shirt. There will be a pre-race orientation on Saturday morning of the race at 7:00 am at the Hillcrest Pool to explain to the participants and parents the race courses, how to set-up the transition area and what to expect during the race. All participants are encouraged to attend!

Sanctioning

USA Triathlon is the national governing body for the sports of triathlon, duathlon, winter triathlon and aquathlon in the United States. Participation in a USAT sanctioned event means the event director has the proper permits in place, liability and athlete excess medical insurance coverage and the event plan has met the standard of organization required. USA Triathlon provides rules, guidance and governance to set the standard for safe and fair multi-sport races.
