Timing Chips

We will be handing out the timing chips RACE MORNING just before you enter the pool for your swim. We have done this the last couple of years which worked beautifully and helped with the lost/forgotten chips on race day. If you were to lose your timing chip, it would cost you about $100 to replace. Each racer will receive a velcro strap and chip to go around either ankle.

Duathlon Timing Chips

The duathlon starts at 8:00 out by the transition area so you will be able to get your timing chips 20 minutes before we start the duathlon out by the transition area only, not in the pool area.

Transition Area

The transition area will open at 5:30a.m. on race day. All bikes need to be racked 45 minutes prior to swim time (duathletes by 7:15). Please be courteous to other racers, only participants will be allowed in the transition area. This is to your benefit, to prevent injury and theft. Please help us in this endeavor by keeping your supporters out of the area. Helmets must be strapped onto your head prior to exiting and upon re-entering the transition area.

Swim

The swim will start at 7:00 with the slower swimmers first. The swim will be heated according to your submitted swim time for 500 yards (20 lengths of the pool). Lap counters will be provided. The max swim time is 25 minutes, at which time if you have not completed your swim, you will be assessed a penalty and asked to depart the pool and continue the race. There will be up to 5 athletes (male & female) per lane. Caps will be provided or you may bring your own.

Heat Times/Swim Time Changes

Heat times will be posted no later than September 10th at packet pick-up. The first heat will be starting at 7:00am. Please show up at least 1 hour prior to your estimated swim time. We will accept 1 swim time change per athlete, which needs to be greater than 2 minutes, or no changes will be made. Please email nroderick@mho.com for changes prior to Sept 1st. No changes will be made after this date. **Please time your 500 yard swim PRIOR to submitting your time!**

Fast Lane

We will have a fast lane once again this year. In order to swim in this lane, you must have a swim time of 7:30 or faster AND be able to do flip turns. If you do not meet these qualifications and swim in the fast lane, you will be assessed a 5 minute penalty. The fast lane will run from 8:00-9:30a.m.

Bike

It is each participant’s responsibility to know the 11 mile bike course. There will be police officers and sheriffs at all critical areas & volunteers throughout the course, along with signage on the route. Please drive the course prior to the race to eliminate any confusion. Referees will be on the course making sure participants are obeying all traffic laws, including wide turns. Referees will assess penalties for drafting and other racing violations. Map available at www.fallfrenzy.com.

Bike Safety/USAT Bike Rules

Please make sure that you have the ‘plugs’ at each end of your handle-bars. If you can see inside your handle-bars while looking at the end, yours are missing! The USAT rules state that you can be disqualified for safety reasons if you are missing these ‘plugs’. These are available at any bike store and are inexpensive. Headphones of any kind are not allowed, you will receive a penalty every time the referee sees you with them on the course!

Run-3 miles

Runners will head South on the bike path, under Lincoln Ave. to the turn around point. It is an out and back run. We will have a water station at about the 1 mile pt. so you can get a drink on your way out & on your way back. Headphones of any kind are not allowed, you will receive a penalty every time the referee sees you with them on the course! *Please keep in mind that the bike path is still open to the public. Occasionally we have bikers on the run course.

Race Shirt

All participating athletes will receive a long-sleeve dri-release shirt with a partial zip front and mock neckline. We will have both women and men's shirts to choose from this year. Please make every effort to attend Packet Pickup if you want your race shirt, even if you are not able to race, as we cannot guarantee the availability of race shirts after the close of Packet Pickup. In addition, we will have a special finisher’s item for all those who finish the race!

These refunds do not include active.com fees or any credit card fees-only to include the flat price of the registration. After this date there will not be any refunds.

Transfers

If for whatever reason you will not be able to race, you can find someone to race in your place and transfer your registration for an additional $10 transfer fee which will be paid at packet pick-up (no credit cards). Your replacement will need to have your registration information from you and come to packet pick-up to make these changes and pay the $10 transfer fee (cash or check only). We do not allow transfers on race-day!

All entrants must be covered by USAT insurance. If you are not a member, you can either purchase a one-day license for $10(included in the price for non-usat members) or purchase an annual membership prior to packet pick-up at USATriathlon.org. If you forget your USAT card, you will have to pay the $10. Each team member is required to pay the insurance fee and sign a waiver.
