MMRF PowerTeam: 2013 Ironman Florida CHARITY ENTRY SLOTS
PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT THIS REGISTRATION IS FOR GUARANTEED ENTRY VIA OUR CHARITY PROGRAM FOR 2013 Ironman Florida. Please be sure to read through the agreement thoroughly before you sign up! We have a limited number of bibs available, and they will be filled on a first come basis by athletes who agree to raise $4000 minimum for our blood cancer charity.
The MMRF is thrilled to be a charity partner with Ironman and is one of the few charities with bibs for this popular Ironman event. Whether this is your first full Ironman or you are looking for the right course to qualify for Kona, this is your race! Ironman Florida will offer 50 Age Group qualifying slots to the 2013 Ironman World Championship in Kona.
The 2.4-mile, two-loop swim takes place in the Gulf of Mexico followed by a 112-mile, one-lap bike ride. The highest point on the course is only 161 feet above sea level, and the wind tends to be light. With one of the flattest runs on the Ironman circuit, spectators fill the roads on the 26.2-mile run, two-loop course which parallels the shoreline through local neighborhoods to the turnaround in St. Andrews State Park.
The MMRF invites you to help us raise awareness and funds for multiple myeloma research by taking part in this amazing event. We will be with you every step of the way, from the moment you sign up to the incredible moment that you cross the finish line. Participating on our team promises to be one of the most empowering and inspiring experiences of your life.
Team members are required to raise a minimum of $4000 each, and will be provided with a personal donation page, tips and sample emails and access to full time fundraising support should they need it. Team members pay a registration fee to join the MMRF team which covers the cost of their event registration, a Champion System team cycling shirt, a 16 week training online plan and other amenities.
In order to ensure that 90% of all funds raised go back to fund myeloma research, each MMRF athlete will be responsible for costs such as transportation and hotel accommodations.
About the MMRF and Multiple Myeloma
The mission of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) is to relentlessly pursue innovative means that accelerate the development of next-generation multiple myeloma treatments to extend the lives of patients and lead to a cure. The MMRF is the world's largest private funder of myeloma research. An outstanding 90% of all funds raised go toward research and related programming. Multiple myeloma is an incurable blood cancer. Although progress has been made in treating multiple myeloma, the five-year survival rate remains one of the lowest of all cancers.
Why Run for our Team?
Our teams raise money and awareness for cancer research. Many members of our teams have a direct connection to multiple myeloma. Others join us to support a great organization that is transforming the way that medical research and drug development are being conducted. All team members are proud to support an organization that is using their money responsibly and is one of the nations' highest rated charities by 'watch dogs' like Charity Navigator, which rates the MMRF in the top 1% of all charities it monitors.
