Youth Races

  • The 4-6, 7-10, 11-14 year old divisions are open to all abilities.
  • The swim in the Long Island Sound is in a shallow and supervised section.
  • The bike in the park on paved road.
  • The run is on walkways next to the beach.

Race Distance

The entire kids race course is contained within Calf Pasture Beach.

  • 4-6 year olds Swim 20 yards, Bike 1 mile (training wheels allowed), Run 100 yards (1 parent helper allowed).
  • 7-10 year olds Swim 100 yards, Bike 2 miles, Run 0.5 mile
  • 11-14 year olds Swim 200 yards, Bike 4 miles, Run 1 mile

Age Requirements

USA Triathlon Competitive Rule 3.2a Athletes compete in the age group corresponding to their age on December 31 of the event year e.g. if your child is 10 years old on the day of the race, but turns 11 before the end of the calendar year, your child will race as an 11 year old. Any child who is 14 on race day, but will turn 15 before the end of the calendar year, is ineligible to race. Correspondence will not be entered into.


Insurance

Your child must be a member of USA Triathlon to compete in the race, including each relay member. If you do not have a current USAT Annual membership card, please Visit the USA Triathlon site to obtain one for $15 (and then print it your membership card enter your number during registration),


Entry Fees

  • Individual $50; Sibli
  • Relay $75

If Race day registration available, prices increase by $10.

Refund Policy

Withdrawal requests must be received in writing via email without exception. All requests must be received 30 before race day to be eligible for a partial refund of 50%. Transfers or deferrals are NOT permitted.


Rules

The race is a USAT sanctioned race so USAT rules are in effect. Your child must wear an ANSI-approved helmet during the bike portion of the event.

Please note electronic listening devices are strictly prohibited!


The Mini Mossman Youth Triathlon races are part of the ToughKids Race Series. All top 3 Boys and Girls in each age will qualify for the ToughKids Championship at Croton Point Avenue, Croton-on-Hudson, NY on September 8th, 2012.


Packet Pick-Up

Athlete check-in and chip distribution will take place on Saturday, July 14th from 7:00 -8:45 AM, at Calf Pasture Beach.


Start Times

Transition opens at 7 AM on Saturday morning.

The order of age group races is as follows: 4-6, and 7-10, 11-14.

9 AM - The 4-6 Year Olds Kids race begins.

At the completion of the first race, the 7-10 age group will commence.

Finally, at the completion of the older children's race, the 1-14 Kids race will begin.


Awards

Awards will be presented shortly after the completion of the final race and presented to:

•Top 3 Overall Boys/ Girls 4-6

•Top 3 Overall Boys/ Girls 7-10

•Top 3 Overall Boys/ Girls 11-14

•1st Relay

Sanctioning

USA Triathlon is the national governing body for the sports of triathlon, duathlon, winter triathlon and aquathlon in the United States.
