Brief Description

The Norfolk Sprint Triathlon will start on August 19, 2012 at 7:30am at Community Beach, located at 700 East Ocean View Ave, Norfolk, VA. The swim will be in the Chesapeake Bay (Length TBD, between 400-500 yards). The bike will run from one side, Willoughby Bay back to Community Beach (2 laps), spanning 12 miles. The race will end with a 5k on the beach! So not only will this race be a swimmer-friendly triathlon, but it will also test your running endurance with the final leg on the beach!

Race Day Registration

Race Day Registration: There will be race day registration IF SPOTS ARE LEFT. Participants will need to arrive at 6:15 to get registered for the event. T-shirts sizes can not be guaranteed for race day registers. CASH OR CHECK ONLY (checks made out to Bishop's Events).

Packet Pickup

Packet Pickup is available on Saturday, August 18th from 2-6pm at East Coast Bicycles (9605 Granby Street, Norfolk, VA 23503). Pre-race meetings will begin around 7:15 near the transition area. There will be packet pickup on the morning of the event, plan to arrive NO LATER than 6:30am.

Parking

Parking will be at Community Beach (700 East Ocean View Ave, Norfolk, VA 23510), right near the transition area.

Timing

Chip Timing will be done by racePacket.

Swim

Swim will take place in the Chesapeake Bay. Two Marine Patrol Boats will be in the water to provide safety for swimmers. Swimmers will take off in waves depending on their estimated swim time.

Competitors

Ages 10 through 100 can compete in this event. All athletes 17 & under must purchase a YOUTH ONE-DAY MEMBERSHIP ($10) at www.usatriathlon.org. All athletes must have an annual membership or a one-day license to compete in this race.

Awards

Medals will be handed out to the top 3 finishers in Men's and Women's overall!
