This morning, June 14, we made the very difficult decision to cancel holding the September 23 scheduled event. Since February, registration entries have been disappointingly slow despite very targeted marketing efforts. We remained hopeful that the trend would reverse itself but it appears that late season long course racing in northern New England just may not be on enough folks minds. In race planning, there comes a time where unrecoverable fixed expenses begin to be incurred that are substantial and as each successive day goes by, our ability to return race fees to the athletes is diminished to that extent. It's in our customers interests and our sense of fairness that this isn't a direction we want to take so the decision was reached today to call the race off. Every athlete or team that registered will be getting a 100% refund of their race fee in the next two weeks by check. Further delaying this desicion would also inhibit everyones opportunity to perhaps make other race plans so for us, who also appreciate the opportunity to race, this is the sensible thing to do. We hope you understand. We still think the Sunapee region would provide a fantastic race course and venue and perhaps another calendar date could be a potential, we'll keep you posted.
