Additional Information
The race starts upstream of the historic Town of Thurmond in the languid waters of the mighty New River. Once the starting gun is fired, you will wade into the river and travel with the current for 1.5 miles, navigating a small class 1 rapid. Leap from the water at the site of the once famous Dun Glen Hotel, don your trail shoes and begin a run that will climb 1,000 vertical feet to ACE Adventure Center.
The 7 to 8 mile run is over single-track trails and forest service roads. Now that you¹re warmed up, hop on your mountain bike for a 10-mile ride over single-track trails that will take you to the brink of the Gorge where you see the swim/run transition 1,000¹ below! If you are ready for some good Œol fashioned off-road racing, then come on down to Southern West Virginia for the ACE Canyon ORT!
Don¹t stop there, take a little extra time to play. While visiting ACE, enjoy some of the other activities we offer such as rafting from mild to wild whitewater, climbing, caving, or even take a kayak lesson from one of our ACA certified instructors.
