Brief Description

ABOUT THIS EVENT Long considered the east end season opener, this race founded by the late Robert J. Aaron, is the oldest continuous race on Long Island. This year, the race will be celebrating its 27th anniversary. It features a very scenic course through the beautiiful hamlet of Montauk. The race consists of a 1 mile swim, 22 miles bike and 6.2 miles run. This fun event is USAT sanctioned.

THE COURSE

Challenging with spectacular scenery. Must be completed in 3 hours 55 minutes. Mile swim in Lake Montauk. Out and back - wet suits are recommended. Water temp. +55 degrees. Bike - 22 miles, out and back - some hills. Hardshell helmets and bar end plugs mandatory. NO DRAFTING Run - 6.2 miles scenic run. Out and back - mild hills. NO ELECTRONIC DEVICES (IPODS, ETC) ON THE COURSE. No water stops on the bike course. Water stops at one mile intervals on the run course.

PACKET PICK UP

Packet pick up will be on June 10th from 10.00am to 10.00pm, at the Harborside Motel, 371 West Lake Drive, Montauk NY 11954. ABSOLUTELY NO DAY OF RACE REGISTRATION/PACKET PICK UP. Participants must be present with photo ID, and USAT card, if you have one, to collect race packet. NO EXCEPTIONS. Non USAT members must pay $10.00 for one day membership. NO REFUNDS OR TRANSFERS OF REGISTRATION FEES. Race is rain or shine.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

All athletes are welcomed to participate, non USAT members must purchase a one day ($10.00) membership at check in. (This is not included in your registration) Annual members who do not bring their membership cards must pay $10.00 one day registration fee. RULES

USAT rules mandates NO DRAFTING on the course. All participans must have approved ANSI/SNELL helmets. Helmet straps must be fastened before bike leaves racks and remain until bike is replaced. Bike and run numbers must be displayed during the entire race. Bar end plugs are mandatory. Headphones for music are prohibited during the race. All athletes must participate in their age group division relative to their age at December 31st of the current year.

REFUND AND TRANSFER POLICY

All registrations are final. There are NO REFUNDS OR TRANSFERS. NO EXCEPTIONS.

REGISTRATION FEE

Registration fee is $90.00 up to May 6th, $98.00 from May 7th to June 10th 2011 The race will close once the quota has been reached.

AWARDS

Awards will be presented to: Top 3 Male & Top 3 Female overall; Top 3 Male & Top 3 Female for each age group; Top 3 Clydesdales (Men 200+ lbs); Top 3 Athenas (Women 150+ lbs)

PARKING

Accommodations have been made at different locations for secure parking. Participants will be directed at packet pick up and by the local police officers on race day. Please follow directions.

ACCOMMODATION

DIRECTIONS

Long Island Expressway: Take LIE to exit 70. Exit 70 to 27 East (Montauk H/Way). Take 27 East to Montauk. One mile past village, turn left of West Lake Drive (County Rd. 77). Two miles on West Lake Drive to Harborside (1st Motel on left) Southern State Parkway: Take Exit 44 to 27 East. Follow directions above.

Age Divisions are as follows: Men and Women: 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 50-54, 55-59, 50-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 and over Awards will be given to 1st three positions in each age group. Trophy and prize money to 1st, 2nd and 3rd overall male and female.

Sanctioning
