Elm Creek Park Reserve
12400 James Deane Pkwy
RUN: 7.6k
The run course will be completed on hard packed snow, groomed for cross-country skiing. This trek will dip and wind through the downhill and Nordic ski areas of Elm Creek. This run will be challenging but doable with flat/fast areas as well as a few rolling hills. Remember to be patient with your footing. Regular running shoes should be fine but remember to wear some warm socks!
BIKE: 15k
The cycling portion of the event will also held on packed trial. Don’t be fooled by the 15k length of the bike. Even with packed snow it could be tough to power through and navigate. Mountain Bikes are required and will certainly be a necessity on this course. Several more rolling hills will await participants and a few “tricky” curves and turns. However, this course would not be considered technical and will be able to be navigated by the beginner so BORROW a friend’s bike and come TRI this!
SKI: 7.5 k
On a trail, groomed by the best, the final leg of the race will bring you a full three loops of the 2.5 k manmade portion of Elm’s trails. The course does have two short hard climbs but you will also find yourself double poling a good portion of this course. Freestyle is the recommended technique/set-up and it will finish past the transition area at the beautifully redone and spacious chalet.
Kids Race
The fun will continue with the kids WINTER DUATHLON! Yes, the rental skis will be ready for this run to ski race. The course will be flat and manageable for all abilities. Distances will vary between 100 to 400 meter run and 200 meter to 1k ski. All ages are welcome to come enjoy this wintry day!!
