Increase your Speed, Increase your Endurance, Test yourself in Race Conditions, and Learn how to Race Better and more Comfortably

Race Condition Training

Despite the popular mantra, anything is not possible. You cannot sit on the couch and expect to race well. Your training will dictate how well you race. In other words, racing is just an extension of your training. During the cold winter months in the Midwest you not have the opportunity to train in race conditions. Until Now! The TRiKC Winter Indoor Triathlon Challenge Series will give you that opportunity.

Tune Your Skills

Do not wait until your first triathlon to find out that your expectations were not met or you have not trained properly. With TRiKC’s Triathlon Challenge Series you can experiment with different race strategies and tactics to determine what works best for you when you line up for the start of your first triathlon in 2010. Find out how well you swim in a group, how you bike on a hilly or flat course, and how to run better coming off the bike. Go into this season smarter, faster, and stronger.

You vs. You

Whatever your goal, in the sport of triathlon the opponent never really changes: it's you vs. you. In the TRiKC Winter Indoor Triathlon Challenge Series you will have only one opponent, you! The goal is to see if you can improve your distances over the span of four races while analyzing how you can race more efficiently.

The Distance

Each triathlon lasts one hour. Here is how the hour for each event will be divided: • 15-minute swim in the pool, wetsuit legal • Transition 1 • Bike ride in the Cycle Studio or on your own trainer/bike ending at ending at 40 minutes into the event • Transition 2 • Run on the track ending at 60 minutes into the event

The Rules

You will measure your performance by distance covered in each of the three legs. The more distance you cover, the better you will have performed. The general triathlon rules will apply except that you are allowed to use your ipod or mp3 player during the event.

Prizes?

TRiKC Winter Indoor Triathlon Challenge Series is grass roots event. There will be no trophies for the winners, t-shirts for the participants, or $80+ race entry fees. Rather, the series will give you the motivation to improve your conditioning this winter and the opportunity to truly analyze how you race best while still having the opportunity to take home one of the prizes that will be randomly given out at each event. Dates and Start Times

The series will consist of four indoor triathlons lasting one hour each on January 24, February 28, March 14, and April 18. Each triathlon will start at 9:20am with the last of 5 heats starting at 11:00am. Your heat will be assigned after registration depending on the number of participants in each event. There will be ten triathletes in each heat.

The Cost

The cost for TRiKC members to register for all four of the triathlons in the series is just $25.00! TRiKC members can also register for individual triathlons for just $10.00 each. Those who are not current TRiKC members can register for the series of four triathlons for $55.00 or can register for the individual triathlons for $25.00 each.

What should I bring?

Swimming Attire; 2 Towels; Goggles; Running shoes; Clothes to run and bike in; Water Bottle; Wetsuits are optional; You may bring your own bike and trainer; iPod or mp3 player
