Staging area is the parking lot at the Wallowa Lake State Park marina, located at the south end of the lake. The swim will start/finish at the boat ramp. The transition is right next to the boat ramp in the parking lot area. The bike and run portions will both exit out the south end of the transition area. The bike will return to the south-east corner of the transition area. The run finishes under the Finish line banner directly in front of the marina building.
Parking is available at the marina. Volunteers will direct traffic and spectators to make sure the race course stays clear.
The swim will be in up to 4 waves of 50 at the boat ramp. Swimmers will swim a triangular clockwise course, returning to the boat ramp. After exiting T1, cyclists will ride to the city of Joseph and return to T2. The bike portion is nearly all flat, with a slight descent into Joseph and a slight ascent coming out of Joseph. After T2, runners will follow the bike course for about 1/2 mile, then turn right and start climbing to the end of the paved road. The climb is about 1 mile long, but the first 1/2 mile is fairly easy with the last 1/2 mile being the hardest. After the turn-around at the top of the hill, runners will be able to blast the way back to the marina and the finish line.
