Description
The New Rancho Seco International Triatlhon is USAT Sanctioned, and held on a Saturday at Rancho Seco Park in Herald, California. The course has a 1.5 k swim - 40 k bike - 10 k run. The Rancho Seco International Triathlon has the same course as our three-race Tri for Real Series with races on: June 3, July 8, and August 5, 2012. After many requests for a Saturday Olympic Distance race on the same fast and fun course as the Tri for Real Series we have complied in 2012.
The Rancho Seco International Triathlon will be USAT Sanctioned, requiring the purchase of a $12 one-day license with USAT, or the holding of an annual membership card with USAT.
The race starts from the beach in with a 1.5 kilometer or .93 mile swim from the beach area. The swim course will be a triangular course in Rancho Seco Lake marked by the large white triangular buoys. Water temperature should be between 68 and 74 degrees. Wetsuits are allowed. The swim will exit the lake and head up the beach and on a grassy path to the transition area located in the parking area.
The 40 kilometer or 24.8 mile bike course will begin after you exit the transition area and then mount your bike. From there you will exit the park and make a right hand turn on Hwy 104, making a U-turn at the turn around point and returning to the park. Please be careful while on the road. Riders must stay to the right at all times! The Bike course will not have an aid station. Water and electrolyte beverage, along with energy gels will be available in the transition area.
The run course begins directly outside the transition area and is a 10-kilometer or 6.2 mile out-and-back course on fire roads and trails within the park. There will be two aid stations with water and electrolyte beverage, plus energy gels on the run course. One at mile 1.5, and one at the turn-around point: mile 3.1 on the run course. ALL athletes must wear their race number on the front of their body during the run and have it when crossing the finish line.
