The 3rd annual Star Kids Tri coincides with the Ron Jon Cocoa Beach Triathlon, starting immediately after so that parents and children can both participate in the day’s events! The 3rd annual Star Kids Tri coincides with the Ron Jon Cocoa Beach Triathlon, starting immediately after so that parents and children can both participate in the day’s events! The kids’ swim will take place in the Cocoa Beach public pool. The Star Kids Tri is overseen by the same company that produces many multi-sport events including the Melbourne Music Marathon Weekend. The Star Kids Tri is a USAT-sanctioned event and is open to kids ages 6-14 and, for awards purposes, will be broken into the following age groups and distances. Distances are subject to change. Juniors – Distance 1: Betelgeuse (ages 6 & 7) – 50 yard swim, approx. 1.8 mile bike, 1/2 mile run Polaris (ages 8 & 9) – 50 yard swim, approx. 1.8 mile bike, 1/2 mile run Seniors – Distance 2: Orion (ages 10 & 11) – 100 yard swim, 3.4 mile bike, 1 mile run Sirius (ages 12-14) – 100 yard swim, 3.4 mile bike, 1 mile run Minimum race day age is 6-years-old and maximum race day age is 14-years-old. Parents must present birth certificates at time of packet pick-up. No exceptions. The race follows USAT rules, and all entrants must be USAT members to compete.

Sanctioning

USA Triathlon is the national governing body for the sports of triathlon, duathlon, winter triathlon and aquathlon in the United States. Participation in a USAT sanctioned event means the event director has the proper permits in place, liability and athlete excess medical insurance coverage and the event plan has met the standard of organization required. USA Triathlon provides rules, guidance and governance to set the standard for safe and fair multi-sport races.
