Description

Last year's Echo Triathlon was the 2011 Rocky Mountain USA Triathlon (USAT) Regional Championship! This year's event will again put you head-to-head with some of the toughest competition as well as face to face with one of Utah's unique rock-walled canyons. Following the event enjoy hometown cooking and hospitality as the annual antique car Coalville Cruise In takes place.

Wetsuits are recommended but not required for the swim. The water temperature will be ~70F. A beach wave start will begin each race. Large orange swim buoys will be placed in a 750 meter diamond-shaped pattern north from the beach. The sprint event will swim once around the buoys, and Olympic athletes will swim twice around the buoys.

Athletes will leave Echo Resort on their bikes for an out-and-back ride in the beautiful red-rock Echo canyon.

If you are looking for a fast run, they dont get any flatter than this. From the transition area participants will run north on the Park City Rail Trail. The trail parallels Hwy 32, and is completely separated from vehicle traffic. Sprint will turn around just before the Echo Resort North Beach. Olympic athletes will continue to the end of the Rail Trail. Both events are out-and-back courses, returning on the trail to Echo Resort. Aid stations will be provided every mile and will have water and hydration products available.

Electronic chip timing of the event will be provided and awards will be presented to the Top 3 Overall Male and Female in each event, as well as the Top 3 Male/Female in each age group category (includes relay, Clydesdale/Athena, etc.)

This is a USA Triathlon (USAT) sanctioned and insured event.
