Brief Description

The bike course uses the 3.35 Mile loop four times. The loop has gradual inclines, declines, and flats. The run segments will go through Brooklyn's only forest and past the nation's first Audubon Center. It makes use of a section of the 3.35 Mile Loop but also includes sections on paths, through the Nethermead and East Wood Arches, Cleft Ridge Span Tunnel, over the Binnen and Esdale Bridges, and in and around the Long Meadow.

Awards

1st, 2nd and 3rd male/female overall. Male and female age groups: 19 and under, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65+. 1st, 2nd and 3rd .You must stay for the awards ceremony to receive your award. Awards will not be mailed!

Important

Everybody must bring a valid picture ID for packet pick-up. If you are an annual member of the USAT you must bring your card in addition to your picture ID. As per USAT regulations, annual USAT members who don't have their USAT card are not allowed to pay for a one-day insurance fee ($9.00) either and will not be allowed to race.

7:15-8:15 a.m. - Check-In
8:25 a.m. - Race instructions
8:30 a.m. Race starts rain or shine

Relay Teams

All Relay team members must be present at packet pick-up. No exceptions can be done.

USAT Rules

It is your responsibility to know the rules. We are listing a few below:

Running Conduct

You will see at least two "CITYTRI" signs per corner with white arrows indicating the turns.
The run is usually measured along the RIGHT shoulder of the road. A participant who gains progress by cutting corners violates the rules and will be subject to a time penalty and/or disqualification.
No headsets, radio and/or headphones are allowed.
A participant may carry a water bottle on the run portion, provided that such container is not made of glass.

Cycling Course

No DRAFTING is allowed! Maintain a distance of seven meter long and two meters wide surrounding each bicycle.
All participants must obey traffic laws while on the course unless otherwise directed by a race official.
HELMETS must meet the safety standards of the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Helmets must be fastened before you leave the transition area and should not be unfastened until you have dismounted.

Transition Area

A participant must reduce speed when approaching transition area.
No cycling is allowed in the transition area. Cycling past the STOP/DISMOUNT signs at the entrance to the transition area will result in a variable time penalty.
A participant must return his/her biclycle to an upright position in the properly designated area.
Only participants wearing a bib number are allowed in the transition area. Please ask your friend and family members not to enter the transition area.

FREE ENTRY Volunteers

Volunteers will receive a FREE entry to another Prospect Park Duathlon if they send us an email prior to the race and help us during any of these slots:
1-Race Day: From 5:00 a.m. until the awards ceremony (6 hours minimun)
2- From 7: a.m. until the clean up is completed

Additional Information

The race has developed a real community feel for it where a large number of local athletes enjoy their time together in a formal setting. Many of Brooklyn's multisport athletes enjoy racing in what is considered their primary training grounds for biking and running. For those who have not experienced Brooklyn this is a great way to see why this Park is the backbone of the great community of Brooklyn.

Sanctioning

USA Triathlon is the national governing body for the sports of triathlon, duathlon, winter triathlon and aquathlon in the United States. Participation in a USAT sanctioned event means the event director has the proper permits in place, liability and athlete excess medical insurance coverage and the event plan has met the standard of organization required. USA Triathlon provides rules, guidance and governance to set the standard for safe and fair multi-sport races.
