About the Race Course:
The race course, which is held entirely on the Brentwood Campus, is designed to be very dynamic. All participants will be in constant contact with many other athletes, creating a more exciting race to not only participate in but also to spectate! From stadium seating you can see the swim exit, transition area, each lap of the bike, and the entire run course right to the finish line!
Athletes will compete as follows:
Swim - The Race will begin in the pool as a staggered start with 20 seconds between each competitor. The athletes will swim a total of 200yards in a snake swim. Athletes will be seeded according to ability but, if needed passing is allowed after the first 50yards. When finished athletes will step out of the pool and run to T1 on a carpeted surface.
Bike - Once the athlete have left transition, they will ride three loops of the campus totaling 7.5k. This is a fast and flat course. There will be traffic officers at both intersections, and volunteers at the bike in/out locations. Each lap will be marked and coned; however, it is the athletes responsibility to ensure they complete all three laps before going into the finishing turn.
Run -The run will be a flat and fast 2.5k. It will be a very dynamic one loop course consisting of a short grass/trail surfaced section, pavement/ashphalt section then culminating with a final loop on a surfaced track. The run will be very well marked with volunteers at each lap/turn. Moreover, the athletes will ring a special bell as they run past the start of the final lap of the track. This is called the bell lap and is required before heading to the finishing chute.
