Bethel is where Routes 2, 26, & 5 merge -- 70 miles northeast of Portland, Maine; 22 miles east of Gorham, NH.

ADULT Check In

Saturday, August 2nd: 3pm-6pm, at Bethel Area Chamber office, 30 Cross Street, Bethel, ME (behind movie theater).
There is NO SAME DAY adult registration.
Recommended RACE MEETING, 7pm in chamber office

 

KID check-in

1:30-2:30pm, Saturday, August 2nd, Angevine Park, North Road, Bethel (2.1 miles from Rt. 2). Same day registration for kids' tri is accepted, but no guarantee of t-shirt.

Sunday Morning Check-in

If there is a SERIOUS need, we can accommodate some Sunday morning check-ins/packet pick-ups, but we greatly prefer a Saturday check-in. Have a friend pick up your packet. Sunday morning check-in location TBD, 6-7 a.m. NO CHECK-INS AFTER 7am! Don’t be late, please! (Do NOT email saying you need a Sunday check-in.)

 

ADULTS' TRI START TIME

8am, SUNDAY, August 3rd at Songo Pond.

 

KIDS' TRI START TIME

3 pm, SATURDAY, August 2nd at Angevine Park (North Road, Bethel -- 2.1 miles west from Rt. 2)

 

Adult Divisions/Categories

-Triathlon: 5-year age divisions.
-Aquabike category (swim/bike).

-Two alternative race categories: Novice (your definition is fine, just be fair!) and Athena/Clydesdale (women 150+ lbs. / men 200+ lbs.)

So, you compete in ONE of four categories only -- regular age divisions, novice, Athena/Clydesdale, or aquabike. (There are NO age groupings in Novice or Athena/Clydesdale. Aquabike has two age groups: 39 & under, 40 & up.)

 

Child Age Divisions, but UNTIMED

Male & Female (no teams) Ages 8-11 & Ages 12-14

 

Kids' Tri Awards

Every child will receive a medal of recognition at the end of the event. This is non-competitive...everyone is a winner! This fun kids' triathlon will be untimed -- check your watch if you want your time!

 

Adult Course Description (NEW!)

1k SWIM, clockwise loop, Bethel Inn Lakehouse, Songo Pond, Rts. 5/35 S. of Bethel.
24k BIKE, counter-clockwise loop, south on Rt. 5/35, left on Vernon St., rt. on Main St., left on Railroad St., left on Lovers’ Lane (Rts. 5/35) back to swim/bike transition. 5.8k RUN, counter-clockwise loop, south on Rts. 5/35, left on South Shore Ln which becomes Morning Star Lane, left on Baker Rd., left on Rts. 5/35 to finish at Lakehouse.

Child Course Description

200 yard swim, across Angevine Pond at Angevine Park (North Road, Bethel).
2.1 mile bike, east on North Road to Big Adventure Center.
1 mile run-1/2 mile out 1/2 mile back = under Rt. 2 highway bridge, up and over recreational bridge over the Androscoggin River, along Bethel Recreational Pathway to a turnaround cone, and back to Big Adventure Center.

Wet suits are allowed.

PARKING, New for 2009

LIMITED PARKING at bike rack zone of Start/Transition/Finish (Bethel Inn Lakehouse & yard across the street).
NO PARKING ON ROUTES 5 & 35. Besides parking at Start/Finish yard, we hope to have additional yards to park in. Also, .5 mile north start is side street, Skillings Road.
