Swim in the temperate, calm and scenic Folsom Lake (71F in '12). 1k course for Sprint. 2 loops of 1k course for World's Toughest Half. This is America's safest triathlon swim event with a mandatory pre-event warmup to acclimate your nervous system to the intensity of the swim race. Extensive paddleboard lifeguard, kayak, and powerboat support in water, including EMS support. Beautiful 3k run along shoreline for Duathlon, mix of flat and rolling hills (single&double track trail, paved road, and dirt road).
Enjoy a scenic, very tough 40k or 56-mile bike course with extremely minimal traffic, incredible scenery and an amazing top secret narrow road down to the secluded banks of the Bear River! Only four signal intersections (in each direction) in 56 miles.
This course offers a complete test of your cycling abilities with sustained climbs, short steep climbs, flat sections and fun roller coaster sections. Most climbing is gentle grade. You gain elevation during the first 28 miles, with high point of 2,450'. 36k high point at mile 14.5 turnaround is 1,660'.
Run a beautiful, spectator-friendly loop course along the edge of the American River canyon in the Auburn State Park with no car traffic. 13.1-mile runners complete three 7k loops--multiple passes through a spectator-lined chute at Railhead Park. 10k runners complete one 7k loop and an abbreviated second loop of 3k. Mini tri runners complete an abbreviated 4k loop. Course features beautiful shaded canal trail and spacious paved State Park roads with breathtaking views of the American River around every turn! One moderate descent of one-mile (200') and moderate climb of one-mile (200') on the loop. Extensive aid: 2 aid stations for the Mini, 6 for the 10k, and 11 for the 13.1-mile course.
This is a great event for athletes of all ability levels. The World's Toughest Half will prepare iron-distance athletes for summer events. The Sprint course offers a unique, safe and exciting challenge. The Long Course Duathlon is one of the classic Run-Bike-Runs in the USA. Auburn is convenient to Interstate-80, 30 minutes east of Sacramento and 45 minutes east of the Sacramento International Airport (SMF). Enjoy lavish age group awards, full sponsorship support, great food and comprehensive on-course aid. Relay teams of 2-3 people are welcome in the Half and Sprint Tris.
Registration expo will be held on Saturday May 18th from 2-6pm at Railhead Park (T2/Finish line). A recommended course information meeting will be held at 3pm at Railhead.
