Description
The city of Albany, California is reviving its triathlon to be held in and around our awesome new aquatics facility. This will be a beginner-friendly, spectator-friendly event with the goal of promoting fitness in the community, raising funds for Albany school athletic programs, and showcasing just how fun a multi-sport event can be!
It is a "super sprint" distance triathlon consisting of a 400 meter swim, followed by a 10 km bike ride and then a 3 km run. The swim will take place in the outdoor pool in heats of 20 swimmers with 2 people splitting each lane (400m = 17 laps, 25 yards/length). The bike course consists of 11 laps of a 0.9 km loop around the pool + park + high school. The run is 3.4 loops on the same course as the bike course.
