Brief Description

An Open Water Swim Clinic designed for beginners and experienced strugglers! This 90 minute clinic run by OnPoint Fitness will give you an opportunity to adapt your pool strokes to the waves, chop and current of open water. The clinic will provide realistic but low-pressure simulations of open water racing for current and aspiring triathletes. All participants MUST be able to swim at least 500 meters in a pool to participate.

Additional Information

Time: 8:30-10:00am Experienced Strugglers (Sign-in 8:00-8:30am). Experienced struggler: Has prior open water experience but wants to improve. If you can’t swim 500 meters, please contact us about swim lessons and other open water swimming opportunities. Open water racing and triathlon skills discussed: • Entry & exit techniques • Safety • Buoy navigation and effective turning • Sighting tips • Drafting Coaching Staff: The clinic will be held by Total Immersion coach and 6-time Ironman Lloyd Henry of OnPoint Fitness. Additionally, US Open Water-certified coach Margaret Connor, who had extensive open water experience, will be on-hand to lecture and coach. Support: Support personnel in canoes will be present to support all participants. Equipment to bring: Lots of warm clothes and a hat to put on after you swim - Sunscreen - Bottle of water to clean the sand off your feet - Body Glide or Vaseline - Goggles - Swim Suit - Wetsuit (optional) - Earplugs, if your ears are at all sensitive to the water - Trash bag to take your wet things home.
